Planning to travel Nepal? Contemplating amazing adventure in Nepal? I am sure there are many articles on backpacking and travels guides. But arguably, there are very few articles on must-have apps if you are traveling to Nepal.

Whether you are trekking to the mountains or staying in Kathmandu or Pokhara or Chitwan, these apps will surely help you a lot. Make sure to download these apps before you are in Nepal.

English-Nepali Dictionary

Hamro Patro’s English-Nepali Dictionary, downloaded by more than 1 million users, is a two-way dictionary- English to Nepali and Nepal to English. This app helps you find English and Nepali words and convert them into English or Nepali. You can also hear the word and learn to speak.

This app also includes games to help you learn quicker. These word games are fun to play. One of the games I loved is Quiz- it helps you learn Nepali words and their meanings.

This app has more than 20,000 English word meanings and 30,000 Nepali word meanings, including advanced-level words. A notable feature is that you can use it offline.

Tootle

If you want to use the Nepali-version of Uber, Tootle is here for you. If you want to commute around Kathmandu, Tootle is the best option for you, unless you want to haggle with taxi drivers or struggle to catch local buses, which is obviously worrisome.

Tootle is a rideshare app for motorbikes as well as cab (recently introduced), which allows you to match with a biker or cab to share a ride. All you need to do is download the app, enter your pick up and drop off locations, and request riders to give a pillion ride.

The price (which is affordable) for the ride is calculated by the app, and you are requested to pay in cash at the end of the ride, or you may pay through eSewa. This app has made transportation easier, convenient, and affordable for everyone who hates to travel in crowded public vehicles and who wants to avoid overpriced taxis.
